For Immediate Release

Carmel, Indiana - Ritron, Inc. said Tuesday, June 11, 2013 that it has delivered 350 of its American designed and built, NXDN digital locomotive radios to the Southeast Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) in Philadelphia, PA.

Ritron, Inc. noted that SEPTA has the 6th-largest U.S. rapid transit system by rider ship. SEPTA is one of only two U.S. transit authorities that operates all five major types of transit vehicles: regional (commuter) rail trains, "heavy" rapid transit (subway/elevated) trains, light rail vehicles (trolleys), electric trolley buses, and motor buses.

The SEPTA order included a mix of Ritron 72VDC and 36VDC powered, one-piece, narrowband analog and NXDN digital capable radios. The FCC mandated that by January 1, 2013, radio users must switch from wideband technology to either narrowband analog or very narrowband digital radio technology.
